Hello, I hope all is well with you and your family. My children traveled to Greeley, Colorado two weeks ago for the Pathfinder Bible Experience. As team of 6 members with more than 800 youth competitors, they were tested on 90 hard questions on the book of Judges and Joshua in the Bible. So my wife and I flew by plane with the children to support them. Their team, thank God, did well and it was amazing to see what young people can achieve when they have guidance and are willing to work together.
Concerning Positive adaptions, Merrem-webster defines adaption as: “modification of an organism or its parts that makes it more fit for existence under the conditions of its environment : a heritable physical or behavioral trait that serves a specific function and improves an organism’s fitness or survival.”
Why are some more likely to adapt, while others refuses to embrace positive change and become extinct ? The answer is intentionality, chance and God’s grace.
Here is a great example about positive adaptations. According to Wikipedia, Blue Zones are regions in the World where people are claimed to live longer than average. The Five Blue Blues in the World are Okinawa, Japan, Sardinia, Italy, The Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica, Icaria, Greece, and Loma Linda, United States. What do people living in the five Blue Zones have in common? They minimize stress, move regularly throughout the day, having a clear sense of purpose, and sticking to a mostly plant based diet. Take time and read about the Blue Zones and you will be impressed, and will learn more positive adaptations that will add longevity and productivity to your lifestyle.
Hear this quick story. I was driving to work one day and experienced something wonderful. Two animals and their adaptations. The bug hit my windshield, it splatted and died. The butterfly was just about to hit the windshield but it graciously and parabolically rotated itself in midair, escaped disaster and lived. Yes, indeed, like the adaptability traits of the butterfly, we, as humans, must make positive adaptations to live, must be flexible , intentional, careful, while staying genuine to our God given talents and personalities. We must adapt to the “windshield” events happening in our lives.
